Aitken's worlds oscillate between urban traumas and landscape vacuums.
His
photographs conjure up overwhelmingly powerful visions of people's nervous
rootlessness and the eerie desolation of our cities, at the same time
keeping closely to the vibrant pulse of the information age.
In
collision x 4 Aitken unleashes his imagination, which feeds on essentially
gloomy areas of consciousness, in aerial night photographs of airports.
Colored strips shoot through the night like futuristic finishing straights.
And who could say with any certainty whether the reflected runways with
their rows of colored lights and little clumps of buildings with pointillist
illumination are real or already part of some extra-terrestrial terrain.
